Good Evening,
I've been wanting to implement a few workflows in my service desk and have made it to PM². I'm building a knowledgebase, workflow, forms, and screens. I'm doing this with the 3.0.1 revision of the methodology, incorporating both the standard and agile guides into a relatively simplified workflow.
As depicted in workflow Step PM² 7.2 Project Coordination is in the execution phase, and is part of the main ITSM flow. When including one or more Agile teams in the primary flow, the process incorporates a workflow transparent pivot to include defined requirements in the form of Kanban epics and sprints for PCT execution. This is done by linking a user configurable set of related link references (e.g. this step establishes an unlimited number of hierarchical 'causes' sub-steps), including denoting parent / child reference projects for Step PM² 7.2 Project Coordination to be considered complete. In order to facilitate this tailoring I've also modified the following sections to work with this hybrid model for both software and industry projects:
Agile specific artefacts for section 7.2 are referenced in section 6.2.3 Project-Specific Plans and built directly within Jira Service Desk with the embedded tools for resource management and digital asset automation, management, inventory, testing and release management. This tailoring allows for an Agile team to maintain best practices and iterative collaboration on items such as burndown dashboards, requirements cross-walks, task resourcing, documentation for test driven development or user stories directly within the Service Desk.
Jira Service Desk provides integrated and unified views to manage all information related to 6.4 Project Work Plan, but for those organizations that rely on a more traditional toolset (e.g. MS Project), that is possible but do expect significant duplication of effort moving information between tools.
PM² 7.3 Quality Assurance - User Acceptance Events
PM² 7.4 Project Reporting - Training Events
PM² 7.5 Information Distribution - Release Events
PM² 8.2 Lessons Learned & Post-Project Recommendations - Project Retrospective
I'm interested to know your thoughts about how useful something like this would be for you or your teams.
Thanks,
Jason Green
