To ensure interoperability across the EU, it is crucial to include digital considerations as early as possible in the policymaking process. This ‘digital-ready’ approach calls for a mindset shift that will allow policymakers to bridge the gap between policy design and implementation through multidisciplinary teamwork. By making policies digital-ready through the best use of digital technologies and data, legislation can be more smoothly implemented, bringing benefits to both public administrations and citizens.
To help you on this journey, the Better legislation for smoother implementation (BLSI) community has provided three e-learning courses on the Interoperable Europe Academy (IOP EU Academy). Each of them is targeted at policymakers, policy officers, and IT experts working within the EU institutions or for national public administrations. However, anyone eager to know more about digital-ready policymaking is invited to take these courses.
If the topic spiked your interest, do not hesitate to visit the BLSI page to learn about digital-ready solutions and to connect with other people and organisations that aim to make legislation smoothly designable and implementable.
Course 1: Digital-ready policymaking
This introductory course will guide you through the major components of digital-ready policies and their implementation by the EU institutions and national administrations. It also emphasises the importance of including digital aspects early in the policy cycle with the help of multidisciplinary teams. By the end of this course, you will gain a deeper understanding of how this approach enables better regulation.
Course 2: What is regulatory reporting and why is it important?
Following the introductory course, you can deepen your knowledge around digital-ready policymaking with this e-learning. You will learn what regulatory reporting is, its stages and its importance in legislation. It also highlights the benefits and challenges of streamlining this process. Finally, it emphasises the key principles that can allow a more coordinated approach toward the formulation of regulatory requirements.
Course 3: Understanding Law as Code
