Since it is well known that employment constitutes the key for social integration, the project aims at enabling the target group members’ social integration. Furthermore, the project attempts to remove the institutional and structural barriers which people with disabilities come upon. This can be achieved by adopting the main principles of the social model for approaching disabilities and by forming the framework for ensuring the rights of people with disabilities and integrating them in the financial, social and cultural activities of the country.

Description of target users and groups

The project focuses on specific discrimination and inequality problems that people with disabilities face in their attempt to enter the labour market. In that respect, the Project's target groups are people with disabilities, who face: 1) discrimination due to their disability, 2) multiple discrimination due to their disability as well as due to their sex, nationality, religion, immigration status, linguistic and cultural differences, etc.

Main results, benefits and impacts

The project innovation focuses both on scientific and organizational level. Indicatively, innovative aspects of the project exist: > In the content of the project, since one of the issues that the Development Partnership Nea Proseggisi (New Approach) deals with and brings into light is that of multiple discrimination (people with disabilities that are women, immigrants, “pomak” etc.). > In the implementation procedure, taking into account that representative national organizations of the target groups are the ones to lead the project and play the primary role in the management and coordination of it. At the same time, the target groups are actively involved in all stages (planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation), while their national organizations cooperate and net with important public and private bodies in order to confront and prevent discriminations and inequalities in the labour market . > In the products of the project, taking into account that many of the activities establish innovative institutions, tools, systems and mechanisms for the support of the target groups and for the improvement of their access to information and communication concerning the labour market such as: - An accessible electronic system for job offers and demands, connecting the prospective working disabled people to the labour market, matching labour market demands for human resources with the qualifications and skills of the prospective disabled employees. - A system of accessible web services to support the employment of disabled people, provide information and facilitate their access to the labour market. The system is to be used by employment Consultants as well as by people with disabilities. - An online network and discussion forum supporting the employment of people with disabilities.
