Interoperable Europe Academy Seasonal School 2026 agenda unveiled

The agenda for the Interoperable Europe Academy Seasonal School 2026 sets out a practical, two-day journey showing participants how to develop an interoperable digital public service from the first policy requirements through to deployment, testing and long-term quality. Taking place online on 9 and 10 June 2026, the programme is structured around five key steps: defining clear requirements from policy needs, reusing existing European solutions, collaborating and governing interoperable initiatives, deploying interoperable solutions, and ensuring quality over time.

Participants can register for the Seasonal School 2026 through the official registration form. Please note that an EU Login account will be needed to complete the registration process. If you don’t have one, you can create it in a matter of minutes.

This year’s theme, “How to develop an interoperable digital public service,” focuses on the full end-to-end process of building digital public services that work across borders, sectors and administrations. The programme is rooted in the Interoperable Europe Act and aligned with the Interoperable Europe Agenda, combining real-world case studies, interactive sessions and expert insights.

Day 1: from policy needs to reuse and collaboration

The first day, Tuesday, 9 June, will guide participants through the first three steps of the interoperability journey.

The programme will begin with Step 1: defining clear requirements starting from policy needs. After the welcome and opening session, participants will explore digital-ready policymaking, moving from theory to practice, before being introduced to the Assessment Toolbox. This opening part of the agenda is designed to help participants understand how policy choices, legal requirements and implementation needs can be translated into clearer, more interoperable digital services.

The agenda then moves to Step 2: reusing existing European solutions instead of starting from scratch. Sessions will include a practical walkthrough of the Assessment Toolbox, an exploration of interoperability solutions that can be reused in projects, an introduction to the EU Open Source Solutions Catalogue, and a practical look at EIRA and eGovERA in real-world digital public service applications.

In the afternoon, Step 3 will focus on how public administrations can collaborate and govern interoperable initiatives effectively. Topics will include the European Commission’s PM² methodologies, the role of the Interoperable Europe Community, organisational perspectives in digital public service development, and peer-learning policy briefs as a source of inspiration for public administrations. The first day will close with a summary session.

Day 2: deployment, testing and long-term quality

On Wednesday, 10 June, the programme will continue with the practical deployment and quality assurance of interoperable digital public services.

The second day will open with Step 4: deploying interoperable solutions. Participants will hear about the Guidelines on Sharing Interoperability Solutions, semantic interoperability through the SEMIC approach, EIF compliance assessment with CAMSS, and the role of GovTech and innovation in the public sector.

The final part of the Seasonal School will focus on Step 5: ensuring quality over time. Sessions will introduce the Interoperability Test Bed, explore the Interoperable Europe Portfolio from monitoring to impact, and look at the skills needed to implement interoperable digital public services. The event will conclude with a quiz, closing session and event summary.
