The 1st digital edition of SEMIC, the annual semantic interoperability conference, will take place fully online on 15 October 2020. The event, organised by the ISA² Programme of the European Commission in collaboration with the German Presidency of the Council of the EU, will digitally bring together policy makers, IT practitioners and researchers interested in topics related to semantic interoperability for public administrations. The theme of SEMIC 2020 is Sustainable Data Services.

Over the last decade, administrations have set free data from isolated silos in the direction towards Linked and Open Data. The 1st digital SEMIC will demonstrate how large-scale data and vocabulary providers, such as governments and W3C, can implement semantic versioning while considering complex dependencies.

SEMIC 2020 participants will have a chance to follow four parallel sessions:

  • Maintenance of semantic assets - methods and tools
  • Fighting COVID19 through data sharing
  • Optimizing open data portals and user interfaces
  • Providing sustainable data services through Wikibase and Wikidata
