semic registration is open

Registration is now open for SEMIC 2026, Europe’s leading conference on semantic interoperability and digital government. Taking place on 30 November in Dublin and organised by the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Digital Services (DG DIGIT) with the support of the Irish Presidency of the Council of the European Union, SEMIC 2026 will bring together policymakers, public administrations, researchers, businesses and interoperability practitioners from across Europe to explore this year’s theme, “Interoperable Europe driving competitiveness”.

As Europe continues to invest in its digital future, interoperability is becoming increasingly important in helping public administrations deliver services that are simpler, more connected and easier to scale across borders. SEMIC provides a space to meet, exchange ideas and learn from one another.

In this wider context, SEMIC 2026 will look at how interoperability can support Europe’s competitiveness from the public sector perspective. Competitive economies need public administrations that can move faster, reduce unnecessary complexity and provide digital services that work across borders. When administrations can connect systems, reuse trusted solutions and exchange data securely, they help create a Single Market where businesses can scale more easily, citizens can access services with less friction, and innovation can move from one country or sector to another. SEMIC 2026 will explore how interoperability can turn Europe’s digital ambitions into practical capacity on the ground.

Where policy meets practice

Participants can expect discussions on the policies shaping Europe’s digital landscape, alongside practical examples showing how interoperability is being implemented on the ground. From digital public infrastructure and reusable solutions to semantic technologies, AI, open source and cross-border collaboration, SEMIC offers a unique opportunity to connect strategy with real-world implementation.

Unlike previous editions, practical workshops and strategic discussions will be integrated into a single conference day, creating more opportunities for participants to move between policy, implementation and innovation perspectives.

The conference will also feature an expo area, giving attendees the opportunity to discover concrete projects, tools and solutions supporting interoperable digital public services. It will offer a hands-on space to meet the teams behind these initiatives, explore opportunities for reuse and see how interoperability is being put into practice across Europe.

A community that continues to grow

Over the years, SEMIC has become a key meeting point for Europe’s interoperability community. Each edition brings together hundreds of participants from across the public and private sectors, academia, GovTech, open source communities and European institutions.

Beyond the conference sessions themselves, SEMIC offers valuable opportunities to exchange experiences, discover new initiatives, build partnerships and connect with peers facing similar challenges across Europe. Whether you are working on policy development, service design, data, AI, digital transformation, enterprise architecture or interoperability implementation, SEMIC provides a platform to learn from others and contribute to the conversation.
