The Publications Office of the European Union, with the support of Interoperable Europe, is organising the 2025 edition of ENDORSE, the European Data Conference on Reference data and semantics!
The event is the biennial meeting point for experts, researchers and professionals from (inter)national public administrations to discuss emerging trends in the fields of semantic interoperability, knowledge management and digital policymaking.
For the 2025 edition, Interoperable Europe is actively involved in the organisation of five sessions, spread out over two days. Curious to know which of our colleagues you can hear and interact with? Discover them below!
On 8 October
Our earliest session will be hosted by our external expert Alessio Nardin and Interoperability Consultant Davide Audrito between 10:55 to 11:15 am (CET). They will present their paper entitled “A Semantic Approach to Digital-Ready Policymaking: The Legislative Financial and Digital Statement (LFDS).” Starting from January 2025, the LDFS is the Commission’s main instrument for digital-ready policymaking. The paper examines the development of the LDFS from a semantic point of view.
If you have trouble finding their session in the ENDORSE online programme, be aware that it will take place in the morning during parallel track 2, ‘AI, Large Language Models and Automated Text Processing’.
On the same day, from 14:35 onwards, our Programme Manager Georges Lobo and PwC Senior Technology Consultant Emilien Caudron will kick-start ENDORSE’s afternoon parallel track 2 on ‘AI-driven Data Interoperability and Mapping’.
Their session, called ‘AI-enhanced Data Modelling: Harnessing AI assistants for Semantic Interoperability’, discusses the use of AI assistants to achieve better semantic interoperability, among others in data modelling.
Forty minutes later (15:15) in the same parallel track, PwC Technical Consultants Emidio Stani and Ine Weyts, as part of the Interoperable Europe initiative, will present the Machine Learning Data Catalogue Application Profile or MLDCAT-AP. This Application Profile enables a consistent approach to discovering and working with existing machine learning models and datasets.
On October 9
Our semantic architect Claudio Baldassarre gives you a state of affairs on the work of the Semantic Registry. The registry is an initiative under SEMIC to unify repositories of semantic data models from public administrations, EU agencies, and other entities under one single portal. This way, by sharing domain data models and their semantics, the Registry aims to achieve convergence in semantics among public administrations.
Baldassare’s session can be found in parallel track 1 titled, ‘Data Spaces, Metadata and Cross-Border Data Exchange (Part 2)’ and his 20-minute presentation starts at 11:50.
Later that day, starting at 14:30, two of our colleagues will join the open discussion of parallel track 1 on the use of Reference data and Semantics in European Data Spaces: Programme Manager Georges Lobo and Semantic Interoperability Consultant Anastasia Sofou.
The session will revolve around increasing interoperability through shared standards and semantic clarity and the role of data spaces in shaping Europe’s digital future. Through the discussions, many key lessons will be shared by panelists who work in EU institutions, academia, and industry.
At 16:50, the ENDORSE Conference will draw to a memorable close with the words of Franck Noël (Director of the EU Publications Office's Access to and Reuse of Public Information Directorate), and our Head of Unit for Interoperability Leontina Sandu (European Commission Directorate-General for Digital Services (DG DIGIT)).
