Personal Democracy Forum is an annual conference on how technology is changing politics, government and civic life that started in America in 2004, and which first took place in Poland in 2013. Since then, PDF POLAND CEE has become the biggest European event devoted to technology, democracy and civic engagement gathering members of NGOs, activists, public administration officers and journalists from more than 20 countries. People from Poland, Central, Eastern and North-Western Europe and South Caucasus meet here, share their experiences and connect with experts and practitioners from all over the world. This year’s theme “My Country: Open, Digital, Civic” reflects our interest in exploring how the countries of this diverse region are entering the digital age, with a focus on the ways they are striving to become more open and to deliver improvements in civic life. In 2015 we will be joined by specialists from countries such as Argentina, Kenya and The USA.

Day 1 – Conference Day On PDF’S first day, about 30 speakers will make appearances, focusing on different thematic sections. Our invited experts and leaders will speak about social matters, media and the public debate, NGOs and public administration. We will learn from the experiences from people of Poland, USA, Argentina, Estonia, Ukraine and many other countries. Confirmed speakers include: Maria Baron from Directorio Legislativo, Rufus Pollock, founder of Open Knowledge, Katarzyna Batko-Tołuć from Citizen’s Network Watchdog and many more Day 2 – Community Day This year, the second day of PDF will be 100% community-organised, focused on the same overarching theme of “My Country: Open, Digital, Civic.” We encourage all NGOs, public institutions, citizens, journalists and the media to apply with their own ideas for Community Day sessions. These can be individual talks, demos, group presentations, panels or open sessions. It’s a very important day since building a community is PDF’s most important goal and we want the ideas the participants are working on to reach as many people as possible. A total of 18 sessions will be held, each one lasting 50 minutes. The sessions will be divided into 6 blocks with 3 parallel sessions in each block. Topics will include: •best practices and ideas for NGOs in Poland, region and the world •new tools for working with data •new trends in openness and civic engagement around the world •cities as the focus on change: transparency policy in the cities; tools for open data websites, contracts and expenses registers; ideas for civic budgets
