Using just three inputs (annual energy consumption, annual CO₂ emissions, and building floor area) the model estimates an energy efficiency label (A-G) and a numerical energy performance score (SAP, 0-100) for each building. This allows municipalities to approximate the efficiency rating of properties that lack an official energy certificate.
The results provide a consistent, city-wide picture of building energy performance, making it possible to identify the worst-performing buildings, compare efficiency levels across neighbourhoods, and detect areas where energy-related interventions would have the greatest impact.
EcoBuild Matrix is designed to work with data that cities typically already have or can derive from the European Building Dataset, making it a practical starting point for any administration looking to understand its building stock without waiting for full certification coverage.
